Cut out sugar cookies are extremely versatile and can be made for many holidays: Christmas, Easter, birthday celebrations, as a thank you treat or just because you have a craving for them. Whatever the occasion, your taste buds will not be disappointed.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3 Tablespoon milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon Fiori Di Sicilia (optional)
3 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Directions
In a large bowl, combine butter, sugar, milk, egg, vanilla, and Fiori Di Sicilia. Blend well. Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder. Add the flour mixture into the bowl with the wet ingredients and mix everything together to form your cookie dough.
Divide into 1/3 sections. On a lightly floured surface, roll each section out to 1/8-1/4 inch high. Place the rolled dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour or overnight, using parchment paper as a divider between layers and cover with plastic wrap.
When you are ready to bake the cookies, preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). On a lightly floured surface, cut with a floured cookie cutter or top rim of a drinking glass for round cookies. Bake 7-9 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
