Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups cake flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
2/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F (191°C). Grease two 9-inch cake pans and line the bottoms with a parchment round. Grease and flour the paper and sides. In a small bowl, mix the flour, cocoa, sugar and baking powder. Add applesauce, vanilla extract and eggs and milk and mix well. Beat for 5 minutes until batter is thoroughly combined.

Pour batter evenly into the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool cakes for about 15 minutes in the pan, and then remove and place on a cooling rack.
