Cheddar Biscuits
These cheesy biscuits are so flavorful. Handle the dough gently and use chilled butter for best results.
Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cold butter
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
3/4 cup milk
Directions
Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles a coarse meal.
Add the cheese and mix into the flour with a fork. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk. Stir gently with a fork, just until a soft dough is formed and ingredients are incorporated. Add 1-2 Tablespoons additional milk if the mixture is too dry.
Form the dough into a ball and knead 12-15 times. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2 inch thick and cut with a floured biscuit cutter, cookie cutter or glass rim. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 12-14 minutes, until golden brown.
